DISCOVERY CHANNEL FILMING AT BONNE TERRE MINE

The world’s largest freshwater dive resort only 60 minutes south of St. Louis, Missouri, Bonne Terre Mine will be featured on Life After People- Episode 9 which airs on the Discovery Channel. The film shoot took place December 1, 2009.

Life After People examines how mans majesty over nature has always been an illusion and what it will be like when man no longer exists on earth. One place where this has happened is Bonne Terre Mine. Once the largest lead mine in the world and the largest man made caverns in the world, Bonne Terre Mine now lays dormant as a time capsule into history. When the pumps were shut off the 500-foot deep mine began to fill with natural spring water. Now when you enter the mine you get an eerie feeling as the only noises you hear is the occasional tour guide taking you back into history and the air bubbles of scuba divers who come from around the globe to explore the submerged labyrinths of the Mine.

The Mine is a virtual time capsule for all who wish to examine what life is like after the miners were gone. Discovery’s Life After People will examine what life was like at Bonne Terre Mine before and after the Mine closed. Guest hosts will be Mark Eberhart from the Colorado School of Mines and Doug and Cathy Goergens owners and developers of Bonne Terre Mine and Maya Palms Beach Resort in Costa Maya, Mexico.

Midwest Scuba Diving will be sponsoring a trip to Bonne Terre Mine, March 13,14. Anyone interested in attending should contact Captain Darrick Lorenzen at 773-732-8972. Space is limited!

Hey there Cappy... I'm pretty sure that "Life After People" is a History Channel production. Wouldn't want folks searching in vain. Ken

OK, they do go by episode number, but to find the right episode you need the name of the episode, any clues on that?
